I decided to review a website that a friend of mine suggested I check out. This is the first of a couple of reviews coming down the pike. (or is it pipe?) Whatever.
‘This is the Nuts‘ is a rakeback site. For those unfamiliar with rakeback, I’ll explain… Rake is how poker rooms make money. When you buy into a tournament you pay the entry and a small fee. For example, a $5 + $.50 tournament will see the $5 go towards the overall prize pool and the 50 cents goes to the room. A cash game however is a little different and the actual rake varies from room to room. But in general after each hand a small portion of the pot is collected (as rake) by the house. So for those that play a lot of cash game poker, the rake can be the difference between a winner and a loser. Most of the winning (smart) players join a rakeback site. This way they can get back some of the money that is being scooped by the house. From what I know about rakeback the average site gets you somewhere between 20 & 40 percent return and there really is no wiggle from room to room. Think of it more as a ‘how to’ rakeback complete with it’s own support forum where there doesn’t appear to be a shortage of people willing to help. I really like how the site is put together and it makes for easy navigation. There is an offer for just about every poker room out there. And even if you know even less about rake when you first started reading this, you will have no problem learning everything you need to know the first few minutes you are there.
